Withdrawal
notification for U/SQL Client-Server Token Licensing
Dear Transoft Customer
When U/SQL 2.66 was withdrawn we allowed customers
who were using token licensing to continue with that method
anticipating that they would move onto paper licensing in
a reasonable timeframe.
However, due to the continued high overhead of maintaining
token licenses over this period and the greater efficiency
of paper licensing, we are now announcing that we are dropping
support for token licensing, effective immediately.
U/SQL Client-Server revision 2.66 (which utilised token based
licensing) has not been a supported revision of the product
for many years. With the release of U/SQL 3.xx, paper licensing
was introduced to replace the older system of token licensing.
The new method enabled us to offer a higher level of service
by eliminating the need to separately ship licensing diskettes.
This dramatically improved the turn around time required for
the re-issue of existing licenses, upgrades and new orders,
as license codes could be e-mailed or faxed as well as being
a more robust and maintainable licensing system.
When a current token license needs to be replaced or new
ones are requested we will only be issuing paper license code.
This licensing method will require that a minimum revision
level of U/SQL 3.xx be installed. For the few customers that
may have a large number of sites currently using tokens, we
will be implementing an orderly swap over to the current licensing
method.
Please contact Transoft UK or US Customer Services if you
need assistance with this transition.
