U/SQL Enterprise Join Engine
The Transoft U/SQL Enterprise Join Engine (EJE) allows you
to use an ODBC or JDBC interface to access heterogeneous data
sources within your organization - even when some of the data
sources may be non-relational legacy data - as a single database
view.
This capability can deliver significant benefits, widening
your ability to leverage business intelligence from the data
locked up in your organization, simplifying enterprise application
integration (EAI) projects, and demystifying data access for
non-technical users.
Transoft U/SQL EJE - The benefits
Transoft U/SQL EJE allows you to:
- Query all your organization's data as if it was one large
database - including your non-relational legacy data. This
enables you to build business intelligence information based
on all of your data, and by using the powerful JOIN capability
within Transoft U/SQL EJE you can query your data based
on joins between disparate data elements in relational and
non-relational databases, giving you a completely new way
of analyzing the information embedded in your business.
- Provides a single point adapter for all your data integration
requirements, simplifying your EAI projects by providing
one common ODBC or JDBC interface for both data access and
updates.
- Take the mystery out of how your data is organized for
non-technical users directly accessing data using query
and reporting tools. With Transoft U/SQL EJE they can query
data stored across multiple databases, without needing to
be aware of where or how the data is stored.
Transoft U/SQL EJE - Technical details
EJE is an additional licensed module of Transoft U/SQL Adapters
and Transoft U/SQL Gateway Adapters.
Transoft U/SQL EJE creates a logical data source which contains
links to a number of physical data sources, either U/SQL or
third-party RDBMS data sources, for example, Oracle, SQL Server,
etc. This enables distributed data, over multiple data sources,
and/or multiple data sets of the same data (for example, multiple
companies as U/SQL enabled data) to be joined and presented
as one logical database.
Because the EJE server is programmed to understand the structure
of both U/SQL and RDBMS data sources it is able to use any
available indexes to optimise query performance.
Where is EJE used?
Typical scenarios where EJE provides a 'solution':
- Multi-company reporting for existing U/SQL data sources.
Rather than the client application having to do a consolidation
of multiple individual queries, which it may not be able
to do, EJE allows a VIEW across all the companies' ledgers
(that is, the separate ledger files) to be created and a
single query can produce these consolidations transparently.
This solution is very relevant to ISVs/resellers who
sell applications that have multi-company capability.
- Integration of data across a U/SQL data source and one
or more RDBMS. This is required where a client application
needs, say, customer information from ACROSS a U/SQL data
source and an RDBMS, such as SQL Server.
- U/SQL data source populating an RDBMS, that is, Datapump.
This is required where an RDBMS needs to extract data from
a U/SQL data source.
