Transoft, with over 20 years' legacy code translation experience, is undertaking an increasing number of these translation projects.
A key objective of Transoft's approach is to ensure that the automated translation and restructuring of the legacy code produces new code that is easily and productively maintainable within, typically, the Java Eclipse or Microsoft Visual Studio development environments. This opens up the translated applications to being supported by the very larger body of Java or C# developers while also reducing costs.
A code translation project commences with a PathFinder Assessment phase followed, very often, by a small proof of concept phase before the main translation and testing phase. The application is split up into a number of short duration work packets which are translated and tested by Transoft, before being delivered to the customer for further more extensive quality assurance testing. This approach allows each work packet to be tightly time boxed to ensure no slippage and the customer gets to start testing much earlier in the project.
