Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc. (DCD) is over 20 years old and is the world's largest distributor of English-language comics and related items - with more than 1,000 suppliers buying and selling 2,500 new items each month to over 4,500 comic book shops and speciality retailers worldwide.
Several years ago DCD developed a COBOL application and database that met its needs and evolved as the company grew. But more recently a faster and better way of conducting business was needed, and DCD's customers increasingly wanted to manage their accounts in real-time on the Web. DCD turned to existing supplier Transoft to see how it could transfer data from the company’s main server to a Web interface.
The answer was Transoft Component Adapters - designed to speed up development time, reduce risk and allow DCD's new e-business application to integrate seamlessly with its existing business systems.
