The bank's overriding goals were to become more efficient internally, to modernize the branches and to be able to offer more integrated products and services such as automated tellers and telephone banking.
Meeting these goals required replacing the entire in-house developed legacy core business system; however the project would be constrained by the need to maintain the current system in good working order while instituting the new. Co-existence was critical.
