Global data and application modernization solutions firm Transoft announced that it has been named a ‘Champion’ in Info-Tech Research Group's Vendor Landscape report on ‘Legacy Software Modernization'. Notably, based on a strong suite of tools and a long history in the marketplace, Transoft ranked second to publicly traded Blue Phoenix and above long time space holders such as Ateras and Semantic.

Info-Tech Research Group's Vendor Landscapes recognize outstanding vendors in the technology marketplace. Assessing vendors by the strength of their offering and their strategy for the enterprise,
Info-Tech Research Group Vendor Landscapes pay tribute to the contribution of exceptional vendors in a particular category. The Group defines 'Champions' as vendors who receive high scores for most evaluation criteria – features, usability, platform coverage, and support – and offer excellent value. They also have a strong market presence and are usually the trend setters for the industry.

In earning the 'Champion' designation, Transoft was praised for providing a combination of valuable tools and strong consultative services. Additionally, the report concluded that of the seven legacy modernization vendors, Transoft "has a proven track record of helping clients capitalize on new technologies without a huge investment in development resources.”

"We have more than 25 years of development in our tools and expert staff," said John Frith, Managing Director at Transoft. "We are thrilled to be recognized as a 'Champion' by Info-Tech Research Group, as their research validates Transoft’s commitment to not just extending the life of enterprise applications and databases, but also allowing companies to utilize these applications in new, more effective ways."

According to the report, Info-Tech states that “how your project runs has direct correlation to how successful it will ultimately be, choose wisely to reduce risk.” To mitigate risk, Transoft has developed a methodology that places emphasis on a phased approach with incremental agreement points and testing throughout the duration of a modernization project. This reduces the “flip-a-switch” cutovers that lead to problems for application end users.

Info-Tech Research Group goes on to note that resources trained in “COBOL, Pascal, Fortran, and the like are retiring without newly trained developers entering the field.” They conclude that, “businesses need to stay current with technological trends to stay competitive.” Transoft’s size and long time expertise in the various applications and languages allow for an agile scope and delivery of modernization projects aimed at helping clients find the most effective and safe way to achieve their desired business goals.
