Transoft
helps TKS-Banking Solutions SA deploy SOA
1
December 2005 - Transoft,
part of Business Solutions at CS Group, has transitioned the
proprietary,
monolithic banking software application of TKS-Banking
Solutions SA to a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
TKS-Banking
Solutions SA, a provider of software applications for banks,
was responding to the demand of its customers, for a more open
software architecture for the product (ALPHA) that would make
systems integration – of internal back office applications
and internet banking applications - easier, cheaper and
faster. It also wanted to be able to break its own application
down into service modules that it could offer to its customers
instead of the complete package.
Using
Transoft
Component Adapters, TKS-Banking Solutions SA integrated
millions of lines of 4GL code from more than 8000 separate
application modules, into Microsoft ASP.NET, a web services
platform that provides a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
It did this far quicker than conventional application
redevelopment techniques, saving time, money and reducing
business risk.
“Rewriting
all that code would have taken years,” commented Carlo
Marchesoni, Systems Architect at TKS-Banking Solutions SA. “Using
Transoft Component Adapters we effectively layered SOA over
the existing legacy application, eliminating the risk of
changing our main product – we could never consider loosing
all the knowledge and business logic that’s contained in our
legacy code.”
“The
adapters also make evolving our applications to SOA much
faster – this project took just three months.
Using Transoft’s tools and consultancy was much more
efficient and less costly than if we’d have done this
in-house.”
Transoft
Component Adapters work by creating a high performance and
scalable real-time link directly with the legacy application's
business logic delivering services into the new ASP.NET SOA
environment. These adapters replace traditional screen
scraping technology, which typically suffers from being a
monolithic approach with poor performance and lack of
scalability.
Geoff
Baker, managing director of Transoft, commented, “Companies
don’t want to rewrite their legacy code from scratch or
replace it with packaged software just to integrate with
modern technologies such as Microsoft .NET or Java/J2EE. Tools
like Transoft Component Adapters now allow the retained legacy
business logic and data to be delivered as high performance
services within a SOA into new agile forms of delivery, better
meeting the ever changing needs of the business."
TKS-Banking
Solutions SA will begin rolling out its banking application
based on a SOA architecture at the beginning of 2006.
