Media Alert - Washington’s Center for Information Services Contract with HP to Migrate Server Platforms

$9.7 million consulting and services deal includes HP ProLiant and Integrity servers

PALO ALTO, Calif., September 25, 2003 – HP (NYSE:HPQ) announces a major consulting and integration services contract with the State of Washington’s Center for Information Services (CIS) for the Community and Technical Colleges.

CIS provides the student services application, financial tools, and information technology support for the state’s community and technical colleges.

Under the terms of the contract, HP Services will provide services and migration leadership involved in moving CIS from the HP3000 platform to Microsoft.NET platforms running on HP ProLiant and Integrity industry standard servers. HP will migrate CIS’ core applications, the facility’s production management environment and the database for all applications to SQL and Enterprise Server platforms.

“Community colleges play a crucial role in educating today,” said Michael Humke, director of higher education for HP’s Public Sector Organization. ”We’re very pleased to be able to provide the technologies and services to CIS that will enable them to better serve Washington’s community and technical colleges.”

The total value of the contract is $9.7 million and includes the purchase of HP ProLiant and Integrity servers, valued at approximately $450,000. The project is expected to take approximately two years to complete.

While HP is the prime integrator for this project, HP’s solution partners also are key to a successful migration for CIS. Solution partners include Microsoft, which will provide the operating environment, and Transoft, which will provide its Cobol transformation and adapter technology.
