Center for Information Services Contract with HP
to Migrate
Server Platforms
$9.7 million consulting and services deal
includes HP ProLiant and Integrity servers
PALO ALTO, Calif., September 25,
2003 – HP (NYSE:HPQ) announces a major consulting
and integration services contract with the State of
Washington’s Center for Information Services
(CIS) for the Community and Technical Colleges.
CIS
provides the student services application, financial
tools, and information technology support for the
state’s
community and technical colleges.
Under the terms of
the contract, HP Services will provide services and
migration leadership involved in moving CIS from
the HP3000 platform to Microsoft.NET platforms running
on HP ProLiant and Integrity industry standard servers.
HP will migrate CIS’ core applications, the facility’s
production management environment and the database
for all applications to SQL and Enterprise Server
platforms.

colleges play a crucial role in educating today,” said
Michael Humke, director of higher education for HP’s
Public Sector Organization. ”We’re very
pleased to be able to provide the technologies and
services to CIS that will enable them to better serve
Washington’s community and technical colleges.”
The
total value of the contract is $9.7 million and includes
the purchase of HP ProLiant and Integrity servers,
valued at approximately $450,000. The project is
expected to take approximately two years to complete.
While
HP is the prime integrator for this project, HP’s
solution partners also are key to a successful migration
for CIS. Solution partners include Microsoft, which
will provide the operating environment, and Transoft,
which will provide its Cobol transformation and adapter
technology.

Services (CIS), located in Bellevue, Washington, is
responsible
for providing information technology support services
to the Washington State Community and Technical Colleges
and the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges
(SBCTC). CIS works cooperatively with the colleges
to establish service levels and provide the resources

to support the colleges’ administrative computing
functions.
