Transoft
announces automatic GUI conversion for HP e3000 users
August 4, 2003 - Transoft,
the leader in evolving new IT solutions from existing
applications and a major vendor of HP
e3000 application migration solutions, announced today that its proven
Transoft Graphical Adapter (TGA) product is now available
on the HP e3000 platform. Now all HP e3000 users with
VPLUS forms handling, irrespective of whether they
have packages or own source, can automatically convert
their existing VPLUS forms directly into Web browser
or Microsoft Windows graphical interfaces, using JSP,
ASP.NET and Visual Basic. The first public demonstration
of the product will be at HP World 2003 in Atlanta,
commencing 11 August.
TGA has already been widely used as part of the Transoft
Application Migration Solution to migrate HP e3000 applications
to open systems platforms and add a modern graphical
user interface in the process. The product converts VPLUS
screens into a base XML definition, from which the new
graphical forms are generated. The new user interface
is accessed through TGA by the original application programs
without any code change. This means users get the benefits
of a GUI without any change to existing business logic,
dramatically reducing testing and delivery times.
Using TGA in the MPE environment is the logical first
step to deliver the benefit of a new user interface,
before moving the application to a UNIX or Windows platform.
Dave Wiseman, an independent consultant to the HP e3000
market, commented, “A major plus of the Transoft
Graphical Adapter solution on the HP e3000 is that my
customers can add a new GUI and gain the user advantages
of shorter training times, lower error rates and remote
access, while readying their application for migration."
TGA is the next product from Transoft to be made available
on MPE following the announcement that the Transoft
Screen Component Adapter is also now available for
HP e3000 users. This enables business rules within HP
e3000 applications to be exposed as Web services, or
Enterprise JavaBeans, also without changing the application.
The integration of Java and .NET applications with the
HP e3000 applications is greatly simplified, reducing
the cost and time to deployment of new Web, mobile or
packaged applications.
Paul Holland, Transoft, Inc. chief executive officer
said, ”As the leading migration solution provider
to the HP e3000 market, our goal has always been to offer
customers a broader range of solutions to match their
migration goals. These options have been underpinned
by our ‘don’t just move – improve’ philosophy,
modernizing the application as it is migrated. By making
the Transoft Graphical Adapter and Transoft Screen Component
Adapter available on the HP e3000 platform, we are giving
even more choices to the HP e3000 community, allowing
them to respond to immediate IT and business priorities
with an ‘improve before you move’ approach.”
