Transoft
Chooses Bridgeware to Reduce Customer Data Migration Risk
August 8 , 2002 - Transoft, Inc., a leading application
transformation and integration company, announced today
that it has chosen BridgeWare, a co-product of Taurus
Software of Palo Alto, Calif. and Quest Software of Irvine,
Calif., as a data movement engine to support its leading
range of application migration products and services.
Transoft has been successfully providing platform migration
and application transformation solutions for over 16 years.
Unlike many other migration vendors Transoft focuses on
providing complete migration solutions that solve all
aspects of a migration project. The Bridgeware product
adds to Transoft’s own migration tools, specifically
enabling customers to migrate their large data sets in
stages, thereby reducing the risk and impact to the business
of a single step database migration.
According to Dave Roth, Transoft vice president of business
development “We recognize that many organizations
who want to migrate their IT operations to an open environment
are not able to migrate their large databases in one step.
In BridgeWare, we found a reliable data movement tool
powerful and flexible enough to enable applications to
be migrated with the database still residing on the original
platform. Furthermore, Bridgeware allows us to migrate
the database in stages, with transactions being synchronized
between the new and old databases.”
BridgeWare offers Transoft customers the kind of flexibility
they need to reduce the risks associated with application
migrations. The product provides bi-directional communication
between legacy and open databases, allowing the user to
run new and old applications in parallel during testing.
BridgeWare also allows more thorough testing by making
it easy to build test databases from selected subsets
of existing legacy. As important, BridgeWare allows customers
to roll out new applications in a phased, controlled way,
avoiding the potential nightmares of “big bang”
data migrations.
“The pace of migrations has picked up dramatically,
as people begin to appreciate the value of open systems
for business intelligence and Web services, as well as
back office operations,” said Cailean Sherman, president
of Taurus Software. “We think Transoft will continue
to be a driver in that movement and that BridgeWare can
make a significant contribution.”
