Transoft Joins Software Leaders in Mainframe Migration Alliance

Major industry initiative focuses on benefits of migrating applications off mainframe platforms to Microsoft Windows Server.

ATLANTA, October 7, 2004 – Transoft, a leader in helping companies evolve their existing legacy applications, has joined the Mainframe Migration Alliance (MMA), a community of software vendors and service providers focused on enabling mainframe customers to migrate from their proprietary platforms to the Microsoft Windows platform to reduce costs and gain more flexibility.

The MMA, recently formed by Microsoft and other industry partners, creates a community where companies can find a variety of 'best of breed' resources, tools and information (including case studies) to help them move applications off the mainframe onto Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft .NET technologies.

“While every customer’s situation is different, all customers face a common set of challenges around moving off the mainframe, and the MMA provides a focal point for shared experiences and best practices,” said Spyros Sakellariadis, Mainframe Migration Alliance Project Manager for Microsoft Corp. “We are delighted that Transoft, as an experienced migration company, is joining the Alliance and adding value to customers.”

Transoft has already partnered with several MMA members on specific projects. “As vendors of legacy systems reduce or stop support for their older mainframe offerings, companies are feeling nervous about the risks and rising costs of continuing to maintain such environments,” said Transoft’s CEO, Paul Holland. “ Transoft is excited by the opportunities the MMA will create to increase mainframe customer awareness of the benefits of the migration option as a cost-effective and low risk alternative to replacing or redeveloping their applications."
