Transoft completes OpenVMS migration for major international bank - 18 Nov 2008
A major international bank, founded in 1812 and with operations in more than 100 countries and territories around the world, has successfully completed an OpenVMS to Sun Solaris migration with the help of Application Modernization experts, Transoft.
The bank was operating its treasury department on the OpenVMS operating system, and the application consisted of approximately 300,000 lines of Pascal, C and DCL elements. The bank had been working for some time to move the application from the OpenVMS environment to Sun Solaris, and some portions of the application had been re-engineered. The remaining portion of the code that could not be re-engineered contained the core business logic for the application and was mission critical for the company's treasury operations.
The bank selected Transoft's OpenVMS migration toolset and services to convert the remainder of the core application Pascal source, C source and data elements. The Transoft toolset also replicates the system services and emulates the script source elements.
The converted application is now running live "in production" in all five countries of the operation.
