Transoft middleware liberates legacy data and
extends original ROI
"What some companies fail
to realize is that you can go from a dependence on legacy
COBOL to the Internet without a slash, burn and rebuild
process that puts you in a position of re-creating your
database from scratch."
When
Stewart McMillan, president of Task Force Tips (TFT),
a world leader in the manufacturing of fire suppression
equipment, attended the Acucorp conference in 1994 he
was, like hundreds of other attendees, seeking a way to
extend the life and value of his company's COBOL programming
assets.
When McMillan saw what Transoft could do to liberate
the legacy data stored in TFT's COBOL database, he wrote
a purchase order there and then on the back of a business
card. Since then, TFT has used the Transoft U/SQL Adapter
to make its entire database of product specifications
available to customers via the Internet.
