Founded in the mid-eighties as a provider of electronic
quotations and policy information to insurance agents
and brokers, Quotesmith.com repositioned the company to
aggressively pursue a consumer-direct quotation service
business in 1994. Two years later, they began providing
real-time quotes on the Internet and started receiving
online insurance application requests from consumers.
However, their data processing requirements became more
complex and heterogeneous - and the customer applications
for insurance coming from the Web were having to be returned
in hard copy form so they could be data-entered into the
legacy system. As the volume of Web traffic ramped up,
it was imperative that Quotesmith.com have a means of
automating these tasks and integrating disparate systems
without extensive re-engineering. The Transoft Intelligent
Adapters were the solution.
