New Zealand Inland Revenue
Transoft
evolveIT makes software development at the New Zealand
Inland Revenue less taxing
"We are on track to improve
the productivity of our Application Development team
by 30% and to save
in
excess of NZ$1 million."
New Zealand Inland Revenue
(NZIR) is responsible for the collection of NZ$30 billion
in taxes, representing
80% of government revenue. It has 4,500 employees across
22 sites, and 200 IT staff including 140 application
developers - the organization is complex.
Maintaining the 6,000 COBOL programs interacting with
the world's largest single Unisys-based integrated database
is tough enough. When new strategic business initiatives
demanded e-enabling tax and social policy transactions,
in addition to the normal annual government legislative
reforms - and all within a tighter budget - it seemed
like mission impossible.
However NZIR chose the Transoft
evolveIT
application understanding product set - the first
product they had found
that met their requirements and fully supported the
Unisys NX platform. Transoft evolveIT is specifically
designed
to enable developers to understand, document and most
importantly perform impact analysis on mainframe COBOL
code. With Transoft evolveIT mission impossible was achieved!
