Macsteel Service Centers USA Inc., provides a one-stop service, distribution and processing of carbon, stainless, aluminium and specialty steels.
| An industry leader, the company is one of the top-five steel concerns in the United States. It uses an industry-specific ERP application, which Masteel originally acquired as packaged software, that has been significantly customized over time. Despite constant tailoring of the application to meet the needs of the business, Macsteel had reached the point where the underlying architecture of the application was preventing it from expanding its functionality along with the growth of the firm.

During the upgrade of its technology Macsteel had noticed the proprietary database used by the application was not adequate to handle the size and high level of availability that was required for the future growth of the business.
There were other challenges as well. It did not have a single corporate enterprise application but 12 different regional systems running on 12 different UNIX servers. Macsteel decided to consolidate the separate distributive regional resources into one single corporate application and explored all the available options to do this.
