Improving customer service and cutting costs
by transforming a legacy COBOL application to an Intranet
based service.
"Considering the complexity
of the technical issues, the transformation process was
in a form that we can qualify as 'transparent' to the
organization"
Colmena
Entidad Bancaria in Colombia was established in 1974 to
bring financial services to a much wider sector of the
Colombian people than had been available previously. As
part of Colombia's national network of savings and housing
loan institutions, Colmena must apply a central set of
business rules to a widely dispersed customer base. With
over 171 branches and $850 million in 112,000 mortgage
and 9,000 loan accounts, Colmena is certainly a people
focused organization where customer service is highly
valued.
As part of its development to move from simply being
a lending institution to becoming a commercial bank, they
needed to overhaul their internal legacy systems and develop
a modern technology infrastructure which could help them
to develop their customer base through improved service
levels and information access, both for customers and
staff. Colmena turned to Transoft for an Intranet-based
solution that would mean current core business systems
could offer new functionality and meet ongoing business
needs quickly and without the risks associated with traditional
application replacement strategies.
