The Lordacs application contained approximately 2m lines of DEC Cobol code, using FMS as the screen handler, and also used the VMS print queues, batch queues and DCL scripts. Using only the Transoft products and Micro Focus Cobol, they converted from VMS to Red Hat Linux and no major re-writes were required including LIB$ calls for SPAWN and GET_SYMBOL (which were vital to their application).

After converting their development system, they then proceeded to convert the first 17 clients. Some of their files had over 2 million records. The conversion was completely successfully with no data being lost or corrupted.

"In summary, without the Transoft products, their support and expertise, we could not have converted. They supplied the products and guidance and we did all of the conversion. It took us less than 4 months and that included some experimentation time."
