Arriva
Migrating its HP e3000 bus management applications

“Transoft and Capgemini have managed to migrate our applications without any noticeable changes for the people who use them on a daily basis. This means we haven’t had to embark on costly training programmes and we haven’t had to make major changes to a system that already worked well. Minimal change was important to us and this has been achieved. I’m impressed.”
Alan Ricot, IT Manager, Arriva
Arriva London is the largest bus operating company in London. It runs more than 1,500 buses a day from 14 garages, and is part of Arriva Group, one of the largest transport services organizations in Europe, employing some 30,000 people. It needed to move its bus management systems off the HP e3000 legacy mainframe as it was nearing its end-of-life.
Arriva, and its long-standing managed services supplier, Capgemini, chose Transoft to migrate these critical systems to an open and more flexible Windows 2003 environment. Transoft used its Legacy Liberator toolset to automate the migration process and hence shorten delivery times, minimise costs and ensure the quality of the migration. As a result Arriva has been able to reduce business risk and the ongoing maintenance costs associated with the applications, as well as make vital information easier to retrieve.
