When Alcatel decided to covert their VAX application to Sun Solaris, Transoft provided the perfect answer.

Alcatel provides communications solutions to telecommunication carriers, Internet service providers and enterprises for delivery of voice, data and video applications to their customers or employees.

The environment included a large "C" application with over 70,000 VMS system dependencies, DCL, RdB, X.25 and DECNET. Alcatel chose to move from VMS to the more modern Sun Solaris running Oracle , X.25, DataView, OpenView and OSF/MOTIF.

The client selected Transoft’s tools as a perfect fit to perform the port. Transoft Open LIBR8 handled the extensive VMS system dependencies used by the application and also translated specific "C" constructs to Solaris. Using the Transoft Open DCL product solved the command language interpreter and error handling issues.

Alcatel, together with some consultancy from Transoft, successfully migrated their VMS legacy application environment to Sun Solaris.
